We thought that it was about time to check in on the settlement and see how the case is progressing. The final approval hearing was scheduled for January 13, 2015 at the Los Angeles Superior Court; however, Judge Kenneth R. Freeman did not rule on the settlement. As far as we can tell, this was a rather unexpected turn of events as it was expected that this hearing would mark the end of this long and tedious settlement.
Over two years ago, Judge Freeman also refused to grant approval to an earlier settlement proposal when he deemed that the settlement “does not represent ‘real value’ for Class Members.” At this time the settlement required Class Members to make purchases from Ticketmaster in order to receive any benefit from the proposed settlement.

Since then, the settlement changed to offer select numbers of free tickets available to Class Members should the redeemable rebate coupons not be used. Regardless, Judge Freeman did not provide a final ruling on the settlement; this is likely due to a number of objections raised by Class Members.
The biggest objection was that Class Members were concerned about their access to the settlement funds because Ticketmaster is only offering rebate credits rather than actual funds. Objectors are also claiming that very few of the Class Members would benefit from this rebate and free ticket settlement proposal, so it’s not of real value. These objections sound very familiar to previous objections…
